Step 5: The resulting effect is two images that blend together very well. Now, we will select the gradient as linear and drag the gradient over the image. The foreground and background colors should be set to black and white. Step 4: In the fourth step, select the gradient tool by pressing the key. On the other hand, the image becomes invisible while using white paint. The property of the layer mask is that it is a transparent layer, which allows the image underneath to be visible while using the black paint. It is located on the layers panel option on the bottom right section. We need to click on the add layer mask button for doing that, as shown in the image below. Step 3: Now, there will be two layers in the document. Now you can release the mouse in the middle of the document to get the images together for blending. Next, select the second image window using the mouse cursor and drag it onto the first image window. For that, select the move tool from the tool panel on the left or press V on the keyboard for its shortcut. Now, we will bring the two images together into a single document. And interesting one is Deform, it’s like a super fast but blurry Liquify (actual Liquify is one of the modes in Transform Tool (ctrl+T) and is much more precise, but slower)).Step 2: Merge the Images together. There is Pixel Engine, which is the most common, Color Smudge, which is for brushes that do any blending, either with color (“wet brushes”) or without (“blending brushes”), Quick Brush which has only a few options but it’s super fast so good for applying color to huge areas, there is a Clone Engine that I talked about already, there is MyPaint which uses brushes from MyPaint, it’s a bit peculiar engine but there are some MyPaint brushes in Krita now, and then there are many other special brush engines. (You can see that different brush engines have different options in the Brush Editor. “Painting Mode” is pretty important because it determines how it picks the area etc. You can open Brush Editor (F5) and there are more settings for it. It uses a special so called brush engine in Krita, called of course Clone Engine. It’s called “Clone Tool” (so you can search for it using a search term “clone”).
